Symptoms:
1.Seeing hpNicOperissues/ adj-fail fault on System-Fault Tab on APIC
2. Physical interface on leaf connected to UCS C series server is out-of-service
3. VMM domain is stable,hypervisors, VMs and port groups are seen in GUI and EPG's are pushed as port groups from APIC to DVS
4. The VLAN for the EPG is not created on the leaf
5. Endpoints are not learned in data plane
Resolution:
The error is seen when the APIC is connected to a UCS server using VIC P81E NIC. This version of VIC, only sends CDP and does not recognize LLDP.
To fix the fault, disable LLDP and enable CDP in the interface policy for the interface connecting the leaf to the UCS server. Create a new policy to disable LLDP as shown below. Do not modify the default LLDP policy, as this will break connectivity between leaf and APIC and the rest of the fabric.
The below screenshots show how to create a new LLDP and CDP policy and use it in the interface policy group which is applied to the interface connected to the UCS rack server.
