9336/9000 switch environment sensor limit/threshholds

Hello,

Does anyone know where/if Cisco has a document outlining what the thresholds are for Inlet, Outlet, Hotspot are on the 9336 switches? I am specifically looking for what the default values are and when the switch might potentially shutdown due to heat.

This is not to push the device but, i am investigating an incident.

thanks

Hi @MD-Shoar

Hope you are doing well.

The below can helps you to troubleshoot your incident and about FX2 temperature threshold.

In the "show logging nvram", there should be also some logs regarding temperature event/shutdown of the switch if it was due to temperature. Crossing the major threshold and it should print a log similar to this: "Heavenly temperature is 110 C, shutdown the chassis and check the fans"

N9K-C9336C-FX2# show environment temperature

NAME: "Chassis", DESCR: "Nexus9000 C9336C-FX2 Chassis"
PID: N9K-C9336C-FX2 , VID: V01 , SN: XXXXXXXXXXXX

Please let me know if my answer help you.

Have a nice day

Kind Regards,

Hey!

I am not sure if the installation guide helps:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus9000/hw/n9336cfx2_hig/guide/b_n9336cFX2_nxos_hardware_installation_guide/b_n9336cFX2_nxos_hardware_installation_guide_chapter_010.html

Temperature Requirements

The operating temperature of the switch is 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (0 to 40 degrees Celsius) at sea level. For every 300 meters (1000 feet) above sea level, the maximum temperature is reduced by 1 degree Celsius. The non-operating temperature of the switch is -40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 70 degrees Celsius).

Kind Regards,

Hi,

problem is this happened some time ago and we have no access to the equipment atm. i was really looking to see if there are any documented info re these Default  values for legal purposes. issue is the DC temp control went beyond the 60s due to multiple failures, warranty was void ....

haven't found anything online myself except some sample output on command references which should be enough.

thanks all
