add new vlan in vpc and portchannel

Hey all,

there is a vpc between two Nexus 5548 switches.

The vpc peer-link is configured like that:

interface port-channel1
  switchport mode trunk
  no lacp suspend-individual
  spanning-tree port type network
  speed 10000
  vpc peer-link

Question1) I need to add a new vlan. Can this be done without interruption? Is there something I need to be aware of?

Question 2)

There is another port-channel on both Nexus where a host connected to:

interface port-channel2
  switchport mode trunk
  no lacp suspend-individual
  switchport trunk allowed vlan 3,4,5
  spanning-tree port type edge
  spanning-tree guard loop
  vpc 2

I need to add that vlan of question 1 to that port-channel. Can this be done without interruption?

Thank you!

Re: add new vlan in vpc and portchannel

Hello,

1)

You do not need to add vlans to peer-link, by default all vlans are trunked there as soon as they are created. Vlan creation is not disruptive.

2)

You can add the vlan to the trunk without disruptions. VLAN will be active on the Port-Channel once it is trunked on Po2 in both VPC peers.
