Migrating from C5548UP to C93180YC-FX. I have fcoe and npiv features enabled. I am trying to configure a VFC interface with "switchport mode E" and obtain error "vfc6: (error) configuration of this port mode not allowed"
Configuration is as follows:
interface Ethernet1/6
description /// FCoE Uplink to N5k-DC-B ///
switchport
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,3121
no shutdown
interface vfc6
bind interface Ethernet1/6
switchport trunk allowed vsan 3121
switchport description // FCoE Link to N5k-DC-B //
no shutdown
On the C5548UP it is configured as follows:
interface Ethernet1/6
description /// FCoE Uplink to N5k-DC-B ///
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,3121
interface vfc6
bind interface Ethernet1/6
switchport mode E
switchport trunk allowed vsan 3121
switchport description // FCoE Link to N5k-DC-B //
no shutdown
What am I missing?
Thanks.

Found my answer in the 9.3(x) config guide, a single line buried in the fiber channel interface config steps that states "vFC interfaces support only F mode". Not mentioned anywhere else, though the command is available on the switch just with the generic error. Now on to re-engineering this component.
