Cisco ACI and FEX using Breakout Cables

Hi There.

Let's assume that we have a Nexus 93180YC-EX in ACI mode as well as one Nexus 2348UPQ as FEX.

Regardless of 6 QSFP Fabric ports on 93180YC-EX, is it possible to use 4 10G ports with a breakout cable in this switch instead??

Basically, in breakout cabling between two switches, Do they both have to support the breakout feature?

As far as I've seen in Cisco's latest documentation, Dynamic Breakout is not supported on the Nexus 93180YC-EX switch.

Hi @Va.8427

You can refer to this link for FEX support in ACI:

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/Website/datacenter/fexmatrix/fexmatrix.html

For your specific hardware, you will see: APIC 3.1(1), QSFP+ link from FEX to SFP+ link on parent (4x10G links)

To answer your question, yes, the supported way to connect the N2K to your leaf switch is using QSFP on the FEX and 4x10G on leaf switch.

Hope it helps,

Sergiu
