Dual homed servers without a vPC

Hello, what would be the impact of dual homing a server to a pair of 9ks running vPC but without configuring vPC down to the host. Just trunk links not even a port-channel.

host traffic will go through the primary switch even if teaming is configured since links are not logically bundled from the N9K side. Orphan port exist in that scenario.

So the secondary would be discarding the packets? I don’t believe teaming is configured on the host side. We have an esxi server dual homed to the 9ks. All the vms seems to be working except the wlc. Certain ssid arent. Would this cause a problem?

So your esxi server's NIC is running Active/standby, so all traffic goes to primary switch.

Regarding your WLC, if it is dual-home to your N9K's then you'll have some connectivity issues assuming WLC is running LAG and towards your upstream with no aggregation.

My suggestion, have your WLC connect to a single upstream device, then try to test if you are still having the issue
