EVPN vxlan -aged timeout issue

HI,

This part confused me for days, I hope someone can help to clearify.

                                 evpn

    VTEP1--------------------------VTEP2

       |                                                        |

      vm1                                                   vm2(new online )

say vm1 and vm2 are in the same l2vni and vm2 boots up:

1.vm2 will send gratuitious arp and then vtep2 will put vm2's mac and arp in its mac and arp table.

2.since vtep2 and vtep1 are evpn peers, vtep2 will sent out evpn type2  to vtep1

3.after receiving the type2 nlri, vtep will have vm2's mac address in its own mac table and ip in its arp suppression table.

My question is

if vm2's entry in vtep1's mac and arp suppresion table aged out, what will happen?

                                evpn

    VTEP1(vm2's entried aged out)--------------------------VTEP2

       |                                                                                             |

      vm1                                                                                       vm2

I have think of several ansewers:

1. vtep1 remove vm2's detail from its mac and arp suppression table. So if vm1 wants to speak to vm2 again, the evpn network will flood arp(multicast or unicast).

2. when timeout, vtep1 will send some arp probe message to vtep2 asking whether vm2 is still alive.

3. VTEP2 periodically(less than ageing time) send some messages to vtep1, so vtep1 will recount the mac and arp suppression aged time.

Not sure how it works.

Please help to clearify.

Regards

Michael
