Factory Reset Second Hand Catalyst 3560-X Series 48 POE (with C3KX-NM-10G Modules)

Hi all,

We recently acquired some 2nd hand Catalyst 3560-X Series 48 POE (with C3KX-NM-10G Modules) but the previous owner did not wipe their configurations.

Following this similar community post - https://community.cisco.com/t5/other-network-architecture/urgent-password-recovery-with-the-3650/td-p/2629200

When holding down the reset switch during boot it takes us to the password-recovery mechanism

Next

switch: flash_init

Then

switch: switch_ignore_startup_cfg=1

Then

switch: boot flash_packages.conf

However the message then displays

Loading "flash_packages.conf"...flash_packages.conf: no such device

Error loading "flash_packages.conf"

Interrupt within 5 seconds to aboard boot process.

Boot Process failed

Running dir shows the file systems as

bs[0]: (read-only)

flash[6]: (read-write)

xmodem[7]: (read-only)

null[8]: (read-write)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

To wipe the 3560 would be based on its password recovery sequence but instead if renaming the config.text file in the flash you just delete it and then boot the iOS up which isn’t packages.conf if I am correct but a bin file

rommon:

Dir flash:

delete flash:config.text

boot

once rebooted

Copy running-config startup config
