How does two nexus in VPC pair exchange HSRP packets? Via VPC keep alive link? In non VPC environment, HSRP packets are sent over interface that running HSRP, which usually connected to a switch. But in VPC , the interface connected to host/server. So how the hello packets are exchanged?

Hello Nagis,

VPC pair exchange HSRP packets via vpc peer-link. In non VPC environment, a trunk between two switches is the best option.

VPC peer-keepalive used to monitor the liveness of the peer device.

HSRP operate in active-active mode from data plane standpoint.

From a control plane standpoint, active-standby mode still applies for HSRP in context of vPC. The active HSRP intance responds to ARP request.
