Layer-2 and Layer-3 DCI with VXLAN BGP EVPN in a square physical topology?

Hello,

I need your advise on the design below suggested by the end customer.

The end customer has 4 DCs with Legacy devices NX-OS N7Ks or N5K as Core devices at each DC.

He suggested to use a pair of 93180YC-EX at each site as Layer-2 AND Layer-3 DCI and use VXLAN BGP EVPN.

The physical topology is as below:

My concerns with this design are:

  • Physical topology (Underlay) is a square topology and not a Spine/Leaf or a full mesh topology.
  • No Spines to locate BGP RR (Route-Reflectors), instead we can use Full Mesh peering BGP EVPN between the 8 Border Leaves
  • No Spines to locate Multicast Anycast RP for the BUM Traffic, could it be co-located on the Border Leaf itself?
  • The same pair of Border Leaves will be used for Layer-2 DCI AND Layer-3 DCI
  • Different speeds of the links, 10G, 5G, 1G

Is this a supported design and makes a sense please?

Thanks for your help.
