Nexus 5500 Remove Layer 3 License

I have a pair of Nexus 5500 switches that were previously used with layer 3 daughter cards.  I would like to perform an ISSU on them, but am prevented by the presence of the LAN Base license.  I can't seem to find any documentation on how to remove this old layer 3 license from the switch.  Can anyone help?

Please refer to the section "unistalling licenses"

The syntax as it states is "clear license <license name>

"You can only uninstall a permanent license that is not in use. If you try to delete a permanent license that is currently being used, the software rejects the request and issues an error message. "
