Nexus 9500 100Mb Port Support

Hi guys,

I was wondering if there's any support for 100Mb interfaces in the 9500 family? From reading the datasheets it seems the lowest speed is 1G. Maybe there's some way to use a module of SFP to reduce the speed?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

100Mbps is no longer possible due to chip limits. The only way to attach a 100Mbps device to that switch is to go via a FEX device like the 2248TP. If you have a lot of devices that cannot go above the 100Mbps you would probably look into this direction but if you have just one/a few you might need to consider the economical implications of this additional extender.

Thank you ADP, it seems like an alternative. But as you've already mentioned - we need to consider the economical implications of this solution. It's really odd tho that the chip is getting better but it can't support legacy port speeds.

Unfortunately it's common to all the switches, not only Cisco, that are implementing the same chip.

Until now I played around with devices from 4 different vendors using this chip and not a single one was able to run a port at 100mbps.

Rememebr to mark this post as solved if your questions have been answered ;-)

Cheers,

ADP
