Nexus 9k Shaping QOS

Hello All,

Working with a customer who has a data centre interconnect terminating on their nexus 9K switches into 10Gb interfaces. The interconnect has only 4Gb of bandwidth.

We need to implement a shaping policy on the Nexus to limit all outbound traffic to 4Gb.

Typically in IOS you would be able to pick class default and shape outbound to effect all traffic. However with Nexus you need to pick one of a number of inbuilt queues.

My only idea up to this point is to tag traffic as it enters the Nexus and then add all traffic to a single queue that matches that tag. Then apply a  shape to that queue.

Seems a bit messy. Any other ideas i think i might be missing something.

Thanks

Your plan seems to be the only way I can think of. My only suggestion is to check the config guide for the respective code version and look through the "guidelines and limitation" section to avoid any obvious pitfalls. Shaping on Nexus switches is not a very popular feature in the field for obvious reasons.
