SP will provide linear source feeds via a static route to our core Nexus 7010 switch – The multicast will always be “living” on the physical port(s) used for the interconnection with the core.

    1. SP will provide the linear sources via two VLAN
    2. SP will provide two path from SP cloud towards our DC core (active/active) :
    3. VLAN 1will be used to provide the feeds on path #1
    4. VLAN #2 will be used to provide the feeds on path #2
    5. Our Nexus core will receive the sources from the two VLAN on both 1 Gig link (active / active)
    6. Our Nexus to receive VLAN #1 on link #1 and VLAN #2 on link #2
    7. the two feeds will be received on Nexus core from same multicast address and same source IP address.

Attached diagram showing design topology.

The request from service provider is:

Is it possible to receive 2 traffic feeds from same IP source and same source Multicast address on two different paths on Nexus switch. what is the recommendation on Nexus core to accept active active traffic

Hi @wasim alsharabi

If the traffic is L2 multicast I do not see a problem with what you described.

If the traffic is L3 multicast, meaning the traffic needs to be routed on N7K, the problem I see is PRF. You can disable it by using command:

conf t
no ip multicast rpf select vrf src-vrf-name group-list group-range

Stay safe,
