Spanning Tree Inter-connect with Catalyst

Hi,

in a customer environment we need to change the path cost method from short to long. The core switches are currently 2 VSS and the other are N9K and N5500 switches. 

I noticed starting from the root will be a best practice. Does anyone has experience with such a change? And what can be the outage or disruption within the net?

STP re-convergence for 45 secs (15 secs for each stage listening, learning, blocking/forwarding), and for the whole network to converge, depends on how big the is the network.
