Hi Several ports in Nexus 2K cannot be up and a few of them(unplugged) keep amber lights. Is this hardware issue or other? Thanks

Hello,
Which specific FEX do you have? If that's an SFP FEX have you checked the SFP compatibility? Provide us a "show interface status" and a couple of "show interface X/X".
The amber led is normal on unplugged SFPs, if you shut the port down the light will vanish.
HTH,

Have you tried to set the speed/duplex manually?
If you have any port working on the FEX you could try to put that device on 232/1/1 just to make sure that there are no hardware problems.

Hello,
This is expected behavior when a port is shutdown in the config regardless of whether there's something plugged in or not.
Off = Interface is no shut but link is down.
Green = Interface is no shut & up
Sold Amber = Interface is shut
