Hi, I listened to the Webinar "Long Distance vMotion with Nexus 1000V and Virtual Security Gateway" on July 27 2011.
https://communities.cisco.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadBody/25927-102-3-45387/Long%20Distance%20vMotion%20with%20Nexus%201000V%20and%20VSG.pdf
Page 48 says as follows.
The following components must be in the same physical data center:
Component | Version |
Nexus 1000VVSMHA Pair,including VSM VM storage | - 4.2(1)SV1(4) or later
|
vCenterServerand vCenterServer Heartbeat pair | VMware vSphere4.1 |
VMwareUpdate Manager | VMwarevSphere4.1 |
Nexus 1010 HA Pair | - 4.2(1)SP1(3)
(Releaseavailability: August 2011) |
Virtual Security Gateway | - 4.2(1)VSG1(1)
|
VirtualNetwork Management Center | VNMCrelease 1.0.1 |
IP Storage, if vmkis on N1KV | Depends on underlying storage technology |
I have never seen this limitation on other documents.
Is this limitation old or still valid?
From my perspective, these components don't need to be in the same physical data center if they are reachable via IP.
Are there any reasons that they must be in the same physical data center?
