VXLAN EVPN Multi-Site - DCI between legacy DC's

Customer is looking to deploy a new DCI architecture to connect 2 legacy DC’s. VXLAN EVPN Multi-Site seems to be a great solution but the Cisco docs imply that to do this you 2 deploy VPC BGW’s at each legacy DC site. In my customer’s case one DC site is very small and could actually get by with a single BGW. In fact some connections would be from DC endpoints that are single homed. Could we use a single BGW at a site or is 2 (and hence VPC) a requirement?

Hi @PatrickCavell85782

The recommendation of having two BGW is for redundancy.

If you do not need it, then you can use one single BGW without any restriction. Also note that you can run the BGW on the Spine. Have a look here for supported topologies: VXLAN BGP EVPN based Multi-Site - BRKDCN-2035 - https://www.ciscolive.com/global/on-demand-library.html?search=BRKDCN-2035#/session/1564527369345001chNE
