Hi,
We have 2 x Windows 2008 R2 hosts running Network Load Balancing (NLB). Virtual Environment is vSphere 5 with Cisco Nexus 1000v switching.
During a vmotion (host to host or storage vmotion) of the active host, causes the NLB to failover and clients lose connectivity. The quick fix is to restart the NLB node or the NLB services.
The NLB is setup as Multicast NOT IGMP multicast.
My questions are:
- Within the Nexus1000v do I need to turn off igmp snooping for the NLB vlan or is this purely if IGMP multicast is selected ?
- Should we change over to IGMP multicast and disable IGMP snooping on the vlan within the nexus if we are experiencing problems with vmotion ?
- We have static arp entries setup on our routers, but do we need to setup a static arp entry for the NLB address on the Nexus1000v switch ?
Thank you
