At our Cisco Live event in Melbourne we held another hackathon. Six teams competed for 24-hours straight trying to win the contest and take home one of the prizes.
All of the teams that participated demonstrated unique and innovative ideas for applications and also showed real business potential. In their three minute pitch to judges all teams demonstrated how Cisco products and services could help execute their Internet of Things (IoT) idea.
The first prize of $5,000 was awarded to Team Red for their idea ‘Information Anywhere’, which allows users to receive information from interfaces on any device. The judges thought the idea showed real business potential and had applications for every industry.
Second prize of $3,000 went to Team Orange for their idea ‘Smart Mattress’ that helped to detect whether a toddler had woken up in the night. The judges said that the team found a simple and effective solution to the problem.
The third prize of $1,000 was given to Team Purple. Their idea ‘Hotspot Explorer’ showcased a valuable application for service providers and helped customers find Wi-Fi hotspots.
