Getting 504 errors when using HTTP_Request in workflow action on Unified Contact Center Express 11.6

I am trying to make a web service call from my Finesse desktop on my local computer using a HTTP_Request from a workflow action. The computer is using the Cisco VPN to reach the sandbox and the web service I am using is on the public internet. I can see from the console logs on my desktop browser that when a call comes in, the web service is being requested, but that the next line reports a 504 gateway timeout. I know that you are now restricting internet access on the sandbox but I assumed that because my desktop has internet access (and can see the web service) that this would work. Has the imposition of internet restriction made this test impossible?
