What does this strange pattern mean in a ping?

The regularity suggests a policer is being encountered. If the ping target is only one hop away (no transit hops), then such a policer is probably protecting the target’s control plane.

Disclaimer: I am long in CSCO

@Hector Melo hi, seems like your QoS policy is hitting at your end or destination end. check the policy statistics to find if there is any hits and drops.

Thanks for the respond, i will check if there is a policy in the path.

Its ping to an ONT from a Cisco ASR9906. The ONT its connected to a BNG and in the PPPoE session has the policy.

The BNG is a juniper MX204.
