Duo Mobile Account Naming Convention

Currently using Duo Mobile and I added another verification account which automatically generated the account name to be "Third-Party". I have multiple accounts with this same title but for different applications. I wanted to see if I could rename the account titles from "Third-Party" to represent the application I am using the account for instead of having multiple accounts with the same name. I am only able to change the login username/email associated with it and that's all. Is there a way to change this or this a feature that is not offered with my current Mobile Plan?

"Third-Party" isn't the name of the account, it's the type of account. This distinguishes one-time passcode account used with third-party services (like Instagram, Google, etc.) with Duo-protected accounts (where an organization has deployed Duo to protect access to their applications and manage their users and Duo Mobile phone devices).

If we can identify which third-party service you've set up an account for we note that in the account type info, like "Google - Third-Party".

You cannot edit the account to remove the "Third-Party" designation.

The way I rename my various third-party accounts in Duo Mobile is to prepend the name of the service to the default name. So, if it names the account with my email address then I edit that name to insert the name of the service or web site before my email address.

Duo, not DUO.

  • Log into your Duo Admin Panel, find the app under Applications.
  • Edit its Display Name there—whatever you set becomes the name shown in Duo Mobile.
  • Sync the app again on your device, and you’ll see the new name instead of “Third-Party.”
