Hello everyone! Here are the release notes for our most recent updates to Duo.
Public release notes are published on the Customer Community every other Friday, the day after the D-release is completely rolled out to commercial deployments. You can subscribe to notifications for new release notes by following the process described here. Check the Duo cloud service release version for your Duo account from the Duo Admin Panel.

Announcement: Microsoft Rollout of Authentication Method Registration in September 2025
Microsoft plans to start rolling out changes to Entra ID authentication method registration in September 2025. This may impact users of Duo 2FA for Microsoft Entra ID External Authentication Method authenticators. Please see this Duo Knowledge Base article for further details.
New Features
Now Generally Available: Duo Admin Panel Onboarding Journeys.
- The Duo Admin Panel onboarding journeys guide you through enrollment, setup, deployment, optimization, and monitoring your security setup.
Enhancements
- Microsoft External Authentication Methods: guest/cross-tenant users will be able to authenticate when Admins use the Guest/Cross tenant Client ID, and users' OID’s are populated as aliases in Duo.
- Improved loading performance on many Admin Panel pages.
- Admin Login Settings - Idle Timeout can now be set as high as 1 hour (up from 30 minutes). Default will remain at 30 minutes.
- “What’s New” information in the Duo Admin Panel has been moved back to “Help”. The "Optimize" button has been renamed to "Setup", and the onboarding journey content within updated.
- Browsers policy now includes a configurable grace period for warnings. Users will not be warned that their browser is out of date during the warning grace period. The default value is 0 days, which is equivalent to the current behavior.

New Duo Single Sign-On Applications
- There are five new named SAML applications:
- Frontegg, and NextCloud - automatic provisioning supported. SolarWinds Observability SaaS, 9Line and Tower - automatic provisioning unsupported.
- There is one updated named SAML application:
- Cisco Secure Access - automatic provisioning supported.
Duo Authentication Proxy 6.5.2 Released
- Update ldaptor dependency.
Duo Windows Command Line Protection Beta Released
- First public beta release of Duo MFA for Windows PowerShell, SSH, and SFTP.
Duo Desktop 7.10.0.0 for macOS Released
- Fixed an issue where devices running Duo Desktop on macOS 10.15 would attempt to automatically update to the latest version of Duo Desktop, despite it no longer supporting macOS 10.15.
- Internal changes to support upcoming feature allowing user verification via Touch ID during Duo Desktop authentication.
- Minor security enhancements.
Duo Desktop 7.10.0 for Windows Released
- Fixed an issue that could sometimes cause a duplicate registration record to be created.
- Duo Desktop will now be launched sooner after user login when device posture data is needed in Cisco Secure Access. This results in fewer situations where this data is marked as out of date.
- Internal changes to support upcoming feature allowing user verification via Windows Hello during Duo Desktop authentication.

- Resolve gateway timeout 504 errors from the Groups page export for customers with a very large number of groups and users.
