829 - Run an application available through gdebi install

So... there is a certain application available for 64 bit ubuntu that I'd like to attempt to run on the 829.

Does this mean I need to create a yocto distro which includes some package management, like apt-get, and use ubuntu repos?

Would this work?  Has anyone already created such an image?

Hi Gregory,

All the IOx applications will be managed by Cisco IOx Fog Director. It is not recommended to use any other package management tools.

So, I have an 829 running the Guest OS, which is the Yocto reference image.

Can I replace this image with a distro that I create myself with poky?

I only ask because I'm just a little confused.  I read somewhere that the 829 only supports lxc type applications.  I was hoping to be able to run my own yocto distro on top of the lynxsecure hypervisor.

Hi Gregory,

You are not allowed to replace the GOS with the one you create.

IOx supports PaaS style apps, LXC container style apps, and VM packaged apps. All of them are running on the GOS. Cisco offers IOx SDK to create such apps.
