Hi Team,

We have 2 mailservers. Is it possible on the ESA to add these two servers on the SMTP routes while using the same domain name?

Yes you can do it.

Create a smtp route for your domain and add as receiving mail servers both your emails.

Assign a priority 0 to both your mail servers and they will distribute emails in round-robin fashion.

Make sure to  use IP-s fro your mail servers and allow port 25 from IronPorts to mail servers.

Hi ardiii_890,

I got an error message "domain already is in the table"

Go to Network/SMTP routes

Click on the domain name under "Receiving Domain", it will open a new window.

Click on Add Row to add a new row to enter the other IP/port and priority.

submit/commit...

Hi John,

Don't add a new domain, click on the existing domain in the SMTP Routes table, then click "Add Row". Priorities behave in exactly the same way as DNS Mail Exchanger priorities, i.e. two destination hosts with the same priority will round-robin load balance, if priorities are different, the one with the higher priority value will be the backup destination host.

Hope that helps!

Hi Harry,

Is it possible to have active/standy mail server setup?

If so, what would be the priority for this?

Thanks!

Hi John,

Assign priority 0 to Active and Priority 1 to Stand By.

Then only the entry with 0 will do the work. The other entry will respond when 0 goes down.
