ESA C160 to Virtual ESA Requirement

Hi Team,

We are currently running ESA C160, there is limitation in this box where we wont be able to upgrade the same to 9.x, to overcome this we are planning to migrate C160 to Virtual ESA. Kindly request your help to get the below details,

Can we use C100v to replace with C160,

I believe that the License can be transferred online,

what will be the Pre-requisite for uploading the Backup from Physical to Virtual ESA.

Hello Vishnu,

Yes, you can certainly replace the C160 with the C100V. Ideally, what you'll want to do is download/install the 8.5.6-106 ASyncOS version of the C100V, upgrade the vESA to match the C160 (or vice versa, if needed) and then setup a cluster between the C160 and the vESA. This would be the easiest way to obtain all of the configuration information from the C160 and apply it to the vESA. At that point, you can remove the vESA from the cluster and decommission the C160.
