ESA Number of CONTENT FILTER Limitation

Hi Team,

We are having Cisco C390 appliance in our network and would like to know if there is any limitation in Creating the Content filter Rules. Currently there are around 25 content Filter Entries which we created for different security Policies. As per our new requirement we need to add additional 50 more Content Filter rules. But before that would like to know will it cause any latency in the Mail Flow.

When we add 50 Content Filter rules then the total number of rules will be around 75, couldn't able to find the document related to this. Will it cause any email latency depending on the Number of Content Filter Rules ?

Thanks,

-Vishnu

Hi Vishnu,

There is no limit to the number of content filters and conditions within a content filter, however, I want to inform you that the performance will decrease the more filters you have in place and the more complex they are configured. Best practice is to keep filters as simple as possible and only use filters where they are indeed needed.

If you need more specific information about your appliance and possible configured filters and their performance impact then I suggest contacting your the account manager who can get you in touch with a sales engineer. The sales engineer has access to sizing tools and should be able to calculate performance impacts with certain configurations.

Thanks,

Mohit Soni
