failover between two C370 ESA

hi,

I'm having two C370 Email security appliance...how to make failover or load balance between the devices.

pls consider this as urgent.. inform me whetther its possible..

The IronPort ESA does not currently have any facilities to provide failover or load balancing.  This functionality would need to be provided through other means such as DNS.  AsyncOS does provide centralized configuration management but this is limited to sharing the configuration between appliances and does not apply to clustering for mail flow.

The easiest way is to do this in the MX record of the receiving domain.

Example:

2 receiving Ironport gateways (Ironport1 and Ironport2).

Define MX record for domain xxxxx.xx

pref 10 Ironport1

pref 20 Ironport2

If Ironport1 is not reachable the mail is delivered to Ironport2. You can also specify the same pref for both gateways.
