Hi guys,

I have a Ironport M670 running with OS version 9.6.1-019. In the device total have 6 disk and is all fully populated. Today the disk on slot 1 has been corrupt and tac has asked to RMA.

I know the disk is in RAID 1 and it should be hot-swappable.

But how can i which disk is the replicate disk of disk 1(faulty disk)

Based on the ipcheck, it only shows basic info(raid version, raid status, raid type) but how i know which disk replicate to which disk ?

Please advise. Thank you verymuch.

Hi,

Is there a specific reason why you are looking for the mirrored disk for the failed one? I do not think that should be a concern when replacing a failed disk normally if there are no other disk failures.

M670 uses RAID 10 mechanism, so Disk at slot 1 should ideally be mirrored to slot 0.

You should be able to ask the TAC engineer who has the RMA case further details like this.

Take a look @ this article: Replace Hard Drives on ESA/SMA/WSA

If there is not a clear mapping of the drive indicated as corrupt (to be replaced) and what the article information provides, let me know.

Hi,

I just wan to make sure there is no downtime when replacing the disk..
I have read through few guide and post on this and got more understanding on this.

Thanks

This is just a Dell box with a custom image, a standard RAID card with hot swap and a *nix image (FreeBSD I think)...

So swapping a dead drive is no different than any other modern server.. just make sure you pull the failed drive.  :)
