You are supposed to be able to do it yourself on licensing.cisco.com.  I have never had good luck, so I typically open a licensing ticket.

it never worked for me as well . simply open case with license team .

Hi Clement,

Details about the installation of a vESA can be found here:

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/content_security/virtual_appliances/Cisco_Content_Security_Virtual_Appliance_Install_Guide.pdf

And a guide how to install the license file you already received:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/email-security-virtual-appliance/118301-technote-esa-00.html

I hope these information helped.

Hello,

You'll want to follow the 'Obtain a VLN' instructions within this article : Best Practices for Virtual ESA/WSA/SMA License Installation

Once the physical license has been successfully shared with the vESA and you received your license, then you'll want to open up the XML file you received with NotePad++ or WordPad, select-all and then copy/paste into an SSH session using the loadlicense command.

If you have any problems during this process (which is common), then I would suggest opening up a licensing ticket and they should be able to assist you.

Thanks!
