Outbreak Filter without AV-Scanenr

On our ironport there is no AV-Scanner installed. We only installed the AV-Scanner on the Lotus Notes Server inside the Lan.

Now, we are planning to use the Cisco Outbreak Filter.

Question: 

Is it possible to use the Outbreak Filter with no AV-Scanner, or does the Outbreak Filter need an AV-Scanner for a proper functioning?

Hello,

You can run the virus outbreak filter without having an AV engine on the ESA; they are independent engines and the rules are managed by seperate teams.

Sophos -> Sophos

McAfee-> McAfee

Outbreak filter -> Cisco Spam and Virus Outbreak team.
