Trying to SCP to FMC for upgrade purposes

Hello,

I was trying to upgrade our virtual FMC 5.4 to 6.2 using the documented path but had an error during upgrade to 6.0. We opened a TAC case and were advised to install some patches directly onto the FMC via SCP. I am trying to copy those files but am getting permission denied when I try to copy those files from my PC to the VM FMC.

I wish anyone who might have come across a similar situation to share his thoughts.

Regards,

Moe Shea

Are you ashamed to tell TAC that you get that error and they to guide you?

No dear, not ashamed at all. Never jump to conclusions before you know the full story. Actually the first answer I got from TAC regarding this issue  was wrong, then they got it partially right the second time :) That's why I posted here.

Anyway they escalated the matter further and it seems it would take longer than expected.  I started a new FMC installation instead of upgrade.

SCP is used to copy files. It won't install any patch.

Doing a fresh installation is a last resort solution. What did went wrong?
