Any updates on BugID CSCut04399 - Java 8 and ASDM issues on Macbook

I am petty sure I am hitting bug CSCut04399. Since I have upgrade my MacBook to Java 8 ASDM stalls every time I get logged into it and it begins to load the configuration. The Bug list no work around's but I have to believe by now, with the industry push to Java 8, that there has to be something that can be done. I have lost all ability to manage the ASA's via ASDM since my (required) upgrade to Java8. I cannot drop back to Java7 per my company's policy. Please let me know what can be done. I have tried various version of ASA and ASDM code to no avail. Latest running versions of both are 9.3.3. and 7.4.1, and still have the issue. Please help!!

The bug should have been fixed in ASDM 7.5 and 7.6.

The current ASDM release is 7.12(2) and it works fine with the latest Java releases on multiple platforms (Windows, OS X and Linux).

This is still an open issue. Even in the very latest ASA5505 ASDM code rev, ASDM on OS X Sierra hangs at 17%, discovery.

Re: Any updates on BugID CSCut04399 - Java 8 and ASDM issues on Macbook

It does seem to be fixed in version 7.8 ASDM. However, you can't connect to an ASA5505 that supports up to 7.12 with ASDM launcher version 7.8. When attempting to connect to the 5505, the device thinks you need to upgrade to 7.12, and will not let you connect otherwise. If you download 7.12 from the device when connecting, then attempt the connection from that version of ASDM, the connection hangs at 17%.

So it appears Cisco has unwittingly worked the ASDM users into a corner. I realize the 5505 is rather old now, but it's still under Support. If I downgrade the ASDM to an older version, things are fine again. It does require an older version of Java JRE, however.
