ASA 5506-x not allowing FTP back to client

Burner2912

Level 1

HI.

I am new to this ASA, used to use a Cisco Meraki!

I have a NAS on witch I have an FTP server, IP 192.268.1.95.

From the outside I get connected with the FTP server, but do not get the drive or folders back to client.

It fails after MLSD.

I am not able to do any CLI other than from ASDM! And the following is done via GUI.

Can anyone see what I am doing wrong, please help me, have tried for days now - it was easy on the Meraki.

Cheers Tonni.

Result of the command: "sh run"

First off please remove serial from sh run below:

For your MLSD error, it's more like an issue in your server (NAS) than in ASA. I presume you are connecting via filezilla, try "Only use plain FTP".

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Abhijeet.

Thanks for noticing about the serial, I will keep that in mind. It seems I cannot edit my post.

I use TotalCommander for ftp use and other. It seems that ASA only inspects port 21 for ftp.

Since I am using an other port I had to do some programming, I just found this for 1 hour ago, and this works:

  • Create a new Class-map and match tcp port 2100 in it.

Class FTP2100
Match port tcp eq 2100

  • Now go into global_policy and call the class-map that was created before, set action to "inspect FTP" on it.

policy-map global_policy
class FTP2100
    inspect ftp

But thanks for your answer.

Tonni.
