ASA 5540 does not see USB flash

Greetings!

Do ASA 5540 has USB flash support? There are two usb ports on back side of ASA. I plug in USB flash and enter the next:

ciscoasa# dir disk1:

%Error opening disk1:/ (No such device)

Firmware file is asa917-29-k8.bin

The same USB flash works with ISR 2911 correctly.

Looking at the following - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/hw/maintenance/guide/asa_hw/overview.html#wp1052511

I don't think USB is supported on your model actually.

When I have issues with this, it tends to be hit or miss depending on the USB drive model. I'm assuming it is formatted correctly since it works on the router.

On the ASA, when you insert the FLASH Drive, check the logs of Firewall, should indicate where the issue is -

show logging

USB needs to be set to FAT format too, 32 or 16 should work

Usb was formatted in fat first and then in fat32 (uning windows diskpatr utility). Logging to console was enabled too

Spoiler

ciscoasa(config)#logging enable

ciscoasa(config)#logging monitor 7

ciscoasa(config)#exit

ciscoasa# dir ?

/all List all files
/recursive List files recursively
all-filesystems List files on all filesystems
disk0: Directory or file name
disk1: Directory or file name
flash: Directory or file name
system: Directory or file name
<cr>
ciscoasa#

is this the normal output of "dir"? Nothing happens when i connect usb flash, no logs.

Or there is some command that enables usage of usb ports?

Hi,

On your model of ASA Disk 1 will represent the external storage.

No Output from

show disk1:

or

dir disk1:

?

Compact flash is not inserted in slot

ciscoasa# show disk1:

%Error show disk1: (No such device)
ciscoasa# dir disk1:

%Error opening disk1:/ (No such device)

Usb flash is inserted in usb slot.

I make even more research and  get ASA 5510. firmware asa825-59-k8.bin. Symptoms are the same
