asa "no memory available"

Hello all,

I have a 5510 and cannot do any manipulations to the flash anymore: no rename, no copy, but wors of all, no wr mem neither ... also the ASDM stops working.

A reboot seems to fix it, but only for a couple of weeks, then it's back ...

Some output:

WAN-FW-01# copy disk0: tftp:

Source filename []? asa821-11-k8.bin

Address or name of remote host []? xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Destination filename [asa821-11-k8.bin]?
No memory available

WAN-FW-01# wr mem
Building configuration...
No memory available

Error executing command

WAN-FW-01# sh mem

Free memory:        56876976 bytes (21%)
Used memory:       211558480 bytes (79%)

Total memory:      268435456 bytes (100%)

Any ideas for a fix ?

Cheers,

Jan

check your flash to see if there are too much files there, use the command "show flash", you should be able to delete the files that you don't need, such as old OS versions.

hehe, nice try, but no:

255426560 bytes total (205488128 bytes free)

I can delete files though ...

you can delete files and still if says you don't have memory?

I guess your problem is with the memory of the ASA. Is your ASA under contract? You could open a TAC case so that they can try to troubleshoot the issue and if necessary replace the unit.
