Hi All,

We are running with a single ASA5550-BUN-K9 firewall without HA. Now, we have a new ASA5555-2SSD120-K9. Can we add this new ASA5555-2SSD120-K9 as a standby to ASA5550-BUN-K9 ??

I know ASA5550-BUN-K9 will not support Next generation Firewall services, the doubt is can ASA5555-2SSD120-K9 act as standby to ASA5550-BUN-K9 which does only policy and routing.

No you cannot. Both units must be identical security appliances.

Hi Collin,

Thanks for the reply..

Is there any way to use the new Firewall? like running VRRP/HSRP between them, so that if one firewall fails traffic can shift to other with minimum outage??

These Firewalls will placed between to Routing devices, i.e between Internet router and Core Firewall.

Is there any other way i can use both the firewall to have some kind of redundancy ??

Sankar

Cold spare is about all that you can have. The ASA's don't support FHRP's.

It will depend upon your present network setup. You can probably configure SLA monitoring or something.
