Cisco ASA 5505 Keeps Dropping SIP connections

I have a PBX behind an ASA 5505. What's happening is that periodically and at seemingly random periods of time the ASA is closing the SIP connection there is no rhyme or reason to the length of time. This forces someone who is behind the firewall to place an outbound call to open up a hole in the firewall again so that they can start receiving inbound calls again. Has anyone seen this sort of thing happening before? Is there a solution other than telling the PBX to send SIP keep alives? The PBX currently does not support this type of functionality. I can provide a copy and paste of the current running configuration if requested as I do have access to the ASA itself.

I'm having this issue too.

Asterisk registering to a sip trunks on the wan.

after a while, no return register packets are received from the voip provider. this occurs almost twice per day.

If 2 trunks are registering, sometimes only one goes down.

Things we've tried on the asterisk box:

nat=yes

changing keepalives

What resolves the issue (on it's own):

server reboot

switch reboot

router reboot

What does not resolve the issue:

bringing the interface down/up on the server.

I think this may possibly be a nat issue to port 5060  any ideas anyone?
