Cisco ASA 5506-X - FirePower module keeps rebooting QEMU error

Hello,

ASA 5506-X running 9.5(1)

FirePOWER module version 6.0.0-1005

The module keeps rebooting and I'm getting the following from the console logs:

qemu: qemu_thread_create: Resource temporarily unavailable

*** EVENT: The module is being automatically restarted.

I have tried re-imaging the module but problem with rebooting still persists.

What further troubleshooting can I do to ascertain what the problem is... hopefully not hardware as the firewall is working 100% it's just the FirePOWER module that giving issues.

Thanks!

As per TAC case I raised the fix is planned to be in the following versions:

9.3.3.7, 9.4.3, and 9.5.2.3

Plan is to publish 9.5.2.3 and 9.3.3.7 at the end of March 2016.

If you are having issues then TAC can provide you with a development image which has resolved the QEMU issues I was having.

We've got the exact same problem with an ASA 5506-X running 9.5(2). I've tried both the FirePOWER 5.4.x and 6.0.0-1005 version, but we are unable to get it working. I've registered a case at TAC. If I've got any updates, I'll be happy to share it with you.

Cisco TAC have confirmed there's a bug related to this; at this point in time it's not publicly available to view but bug ID is: CSCuw48499

All I've been told so far is development team is aware of the issue and are investigating.

Will provide further updates as & when I get them.

I got the same problem... is there any news about a fix for it?

An upgrade to  9.5(2.6) shall address the issue.

Is it already available? I only can see the latest interim upgrade 9.5(2)5

Just checked and seems like it is not out yet. If you have a valid contract, you can open up a case and TAC will provide you the image required to address this issue.

Hope this helps !

Hi, guys. For what it's worth I was having an SFR auto reboot issue as well. Although my error was different (communication channel failure), the result was the same: auto reboot roughly every 12 hoursā€”consistently. However, I upgraded to the interim IOS release 9.5(2)5 and the module has now been stable for three days, eighteen hours which is the longest it's been up since I deployed this ASA three months ago. Maybe coincidence, maybe not, but I figured I'd add my 2Ā¢ to the thread. :-)

Cheers,

-Tim
