Cisco ASA multiple DHCP relay interfaces

Hi

Question, I got a Cisco 5510 with 3 interfaces

Inside

DMZ1

DMZ2

I have a DHCP server on "Inside" and I want to relay DHCP request from both DMZ to this inside interface...But when I try, I only get to enable relay on 1?

What I did:

dhcprelay server dhcpserver01 inside
dhcprelay server dhcpserver02 inside
dhcprelay enable dmz1
dhcprelay timeout 60

If i try and write

"dhcprelay enable dmz2" it will overwrite "dhcprelay enable dmz1" command..?

Is it not possible to enable relay from multiple interfaces in the ASA?

code is asa825-k8.bin

Thanks!

Hi,

Ideally it should not overwrite the configuration. I tried the same in my lab device with version asa825-k8.bin and it takes the command. I tried saving the configuration and changes still exist.

Could you please try to remove complete dhcprelay configuration from ASA and see if it takes the command this time?

Also, does it overwrites only if you save the configuration or it doesn't show up even after configuring ?

Thanks & Regards,

hi Akshay,

I never tested to try and save config..In CLi it takes the command and just removed the old one and uses the new cli command.

If I try this in ASDM i actually get an error (when checking both interfaces for an relay) that one of the interfaces cannot enable relay... Doesnt matter which interface..it complains only when choosing more then 1 interface.

i will check the correct error message tomorrow and try and print screen it.

thanks!

I have removed the configuration, wrote the config and tried again.. doesnt work

Tried in ASDM

[OK] dhcprelay enable dmz1
[OK] dhcprelay setroute dmz1
[ERROR] dhcprelay enable dmz2
Command failed
[OK] dhcprelay setroute dmz2
[OK] dhcprelay server dhcpserver01 inside

Alright.. think I solved it.

I created another interface.. which was able to use dhcp relay..

So I deletede dmz2, wrote config and re-created it.. now it works suddenly

will test with users and see if it actually works or not
