Hello,

I have problem with Cisco ASDM proxy settings. I need to connect directly without proxy. I turned off proxy in Java settings and also in Internet explorer, but ASDM is still connecting via proxy. I didn't find any proxy settings in ASDM. Any suggestion? Thx

ASDM version 7.0(2), Windows 7 x64

How do you know you're connecting via the proxy ? Changing Internet Explorer settings should be enough because that's what Java is using by default.

What happens when you open a command prompt and do a "telnet ASA_IP 443" ? Do you get a connection ?

I know it because i see it in netstat/tcpview (screenshot) and also because we restart proxy servers at night and i have to reconnect ASDM every morning . I have set manually direct connection in java, but no success. I also tried to set another proxy server in IE, but ASDM is still using the same proxy. ASDM doesn't reflect any settings. I can telnet to port 443. Is there any option to set proxy server using deviceinfo.conf or preferences.conf?

ASDM works fine for me, it uses my internet explorer proxy settings, the exceptions too. But I know that java is notorious for such things.

Try to open the ASDM Launcher and click the little java icon to open the Java Console and look around a bit. Type "s" get a dump of the configuration and see what proxy is configured. Maybe also try "p" to reload the proxy configs. Do you have several java versions installed ?

Here is my java config. Proxy settings and bypass list is different from settings I acctually have in IE. The "p" option in Java Console doesn't work. I had only one version (1.7.0_19) installed, but both 32 and 64-bit. I have uninstalled both version a then installed new 64-bit version only:

Done.

I use Java 6 and in the console I have option "p", which tells java to reload the proxy settings. Seems that was removed in Java 7, for whatever reason.

Try one more thing. In Control Panel, java applet, configure the proxy to use system settings and not direct. Then configure internet explorer to connect directly. That's what I currently use (I don't use Direct in the java control panel).

And I know this sounds ridiculous, but I would also reboot the PC where ASDM runs, just to test.

In any case, this is not an ASDM issue from what I can tell.

"Try one more thing. In Control Panel, java applet, configure the proxy to use system settings and not direct. Then configure internet explorer to connect directly." ... I did it, but no change. I also rebooted PC several times.

I will turn to Oracle forum.

Thanks

No problem. Sorry, I am out of ideas

Hey there,

did you find a solution for this problem? Same here since update to JAVA 1.7.0_25 =(

Thanks,

Markus

I will ask the Oracle forum and let you know.

It seems, that it's global issue with 7u21 and 7u25 >>
