Firewall rules & routes required for Botnet filter itself

Can anyone tell me exactly what firewall rules and routes are required for the Botnet filter itself?  I have multiple layers of firewalls upstream/downstream and I periodically receive "Failed to download dynamic filter data file from updater server https://update-manifests.ironport.com".

As long as you have the updater client enable command on it and you are able to ping by name update-manifests.ironport.com, you should be able to download the database.
