I have an unit totally death (solid orange light at status and active). I can't access the unit in anyway. I guess I have to reflah it. Someone can help me explaining steps by steps how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Juan,

You mean the box does not power on??

If that's the case I would recommend an RMA,

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. The unit power on with no problem, but I have the Status and the Active light on solid amber. I have made some research here and on the internet, but I was not able to find a fix on that. I am trying to connect with putty with no luck. I can have a flash card, but I am not sure it will read it. Actually I do not know what else to do.

Juan,

Better to be connected to console and then restart the ASA. I hope you got your console settings as follows:

9600 baud (default), 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bits, and Flow Control (FC) = Hardware.

Once you restart ASA and are able to see the console output , you can even press ESC or Ctrl-Break to go to ROMMON.

You can even load the image through TFTP even without an operational flash. You can follow the section "Using the ROM Monitor to Load a Software Image"

Thanks Gautam, unfortunately when I connect via hyper terminal I do not have any response from the unit. It says connected, but I doubt it is. I am still stuck before the ESC part.

Then you should simply RMA the box. Of course, assuming you have a support contract.
