IP SLA

Can any one explain what the below SLA commands does ?

track 1 ip sla 1 reachability
 delay down 45 up 180

ip sla 1
 icmp-echo 8.8.8.8 source-interface GigabitEthernet0/0
 frequency 15
ip sla schedule 1 life forever start-time now

- How frequently the ICMP ping is sent to verify whether 8.8.8.8 is reachable or not ?

-  Is frequency 15 means that the SLA will send ping every 15 seconds ?

- If no response for a Ping will it be considered down ?

      - What is the relation with delay down 45 up 180

Hi,

Yes, it will ping every 15 seconds. If ping is dead, it will wait for 45
mins for the object using the tracking (such as route) to be deactivated.
This means that the tracking needs 3 pings to fail to deactivate the
object. This is good to make sure that the reason for ping loss isn't
intermittent flapping.

Similarly, the object using the tracking will wait 180 seconds to be
reactivated after ping is reachable again. This means that it needs 12
pings to be successful before confirming that the tracking online and
reactivated the object

Thanks

I hope it is 45 seconds & not 45 mins.

Must be a typo. The whole idea behind SLA is fast convergence, so i don't believe a time period of 45 minutes would meet that objective.
