Please let me know if it's possible to route among contexts (I have 5 contexts) in the ASA without sending traffic to a fusion router (external router) to be routed. I am running ASA 8.3.

Hello,
Yes, it is possible to route between contexts without the need for a router in between.
This link will provide a few design and config examples, but if you have specific questions, feel free to let us know.

Hope that helps.

Besides setting up a shared DMZ for all the contexts to access (which is the only documentation I have seen), is there any way to setup static routes between contexts on the ASA 55XX running IOS 8.3. Or does the inter-context traffic have to go an external router (fusion router) to be routed, and then come back into the ASA to access a different context?
