No, that is exactly what you are looking for, ie: the security context license for 5 contexts:

ASA5500-SC-5     ASA 5500 5 Security Contexts License

Hope that helps.

Correct, it's just a license key that needs to be activated. Once you purchase the license key, you will get a PAK, and you can register that via the following:

https://tools.cisco.com/SWIFT/Licensing/PrivateRegistrationServlet

Then it will give you an activation key that you enter to your ASA.

Okay, this is just a license file or key that needs to be activated, right? No need to replace my two ASAs? just wanna make sure.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Hi Jenifer,

If i have an ASA 5540 that is licensed for 20 context and i want to make and upgrade on them.

Do i must purchased the next p/n upgrade from 20 to 50 contexts

ASA5500-SC-20-50=     ASA 5500 20 to 50 Security Context License Upgrade

or i can purchase the 10 pack context upgrade

ASA5500-SC-10=

so i can only increase the contexts from 20 to 30.

Thanks!

You would need to purchase the upgrade from 20 to 50 contexts license, ie:

ASA5500-SC-20-50=

So your first statement is absolutely correct.

So, its no possible to upgrade the contexts on an ASA5540 from 20 to 30?

no, unfortunately you can't upgrade from 20 to 30, only from 20 to 50
