In the documentation for the ASA 5508-X is says that the device will use simple substring matching for manual URL filtering and gave this example:
"URL matching is not done the way you would expect, so you can easily end up blocking sites unintentionally. For example, if you try to explicitly block the gaming site ign.com, you will also block verisign.com, and any other site that ends in 'ign.'"
I've been testing this and it doesn't seem to be happening though. If I allow/block denmark.dk, for example, studyindenmark.dk is not blocked or allowed as would be expected.
Has Cisco recently changed how this works?
