Cisco IE-4010 software choice

L.s.,
We are busy with a project and using Cisco IE-4010 as solution for an indutrial appliance.

The software trains we can choose are

15.2E and 15.2EC

Strange thing about this, is that the recommended version is:
15.2.4-EC2 ED from 12-Dec-2016 (only version in this train).
From the other train 15.2.7E0s ED is the latest version (21-Jun-2019).
In this train there are a lot of versions.

Does anybody know what the difference is between the 15.2E and 15.2EC train?

And why is the recommende version almost 3 years old?

hello,

there is not any significant difference between the two trains 15.2E and 15.2EC.

when IE4010 was first released (FCS 2016) the team pulled a throttle off of 15.2.4E, and called it 15.2.4EC2.   no more rebuilds on that train.

IE switching product family has moved on with more updates on 15.2E train.

the 15.2.7E is long term support.

15.2.7E1 is about to be released (Nov 19).

if you plan to update the IOS SW to take advantage of PISRT updates then you should go with 15.2.7E train.

Albert,

Thank you very much for the answer.

It's clear for me what train to follow.

Kind regards,
