IE 1000 6T2T will not reset

We have two IE 1000 6T2T switches we cannot factory reset. The manual (attached) states to do the following:

To reset the switch:
1. Press and hold the Express Setup button (recessed behind a small hole in the faceplate) for about 15-20 seconds
with a paper clip or similar object. The switch reboots. The system LED turns green after the switch completes
rebooting.
2. Press the Express Setup button again for 3 seconds. Fa 1/1port blinks green.
The switch now behaves like an unconfigured switch.

However when i press the express setup button, nothing happens. The LEDs remain the same and the switch does not reboot.

We had 8 other switches that have worked perfectly fine.

silly question.  have you tried to insert paper clip type object so its inserted into the reset pin hole at a degree other than 90 degrees?   try different angles.   perhaps the PCB inside the switch is just a little off, so the reset pin is directly behind the pin hole.

if 8 work and can be reset following instructions in IE1000 HIG, but other 2 cannot then something about those two is different.  eliminate the potential mechanical issue by trying different angles.

Hi Albert,
There is a sure and definite click when the I press in the paperclip, so I know that I have engaged the switch ok. I learnt from a colleague that these two switches became "bricked" following a firmware update.
We have since returned these switches to our supplier for a warranty replacement. It is however concerning and highly unlike a cisco product to become bricked after a firmware update.
We shall just have to pay special attention to these switches next time an update is available to avoid downtime.
